Tianjin Airlines receives first A321

Tianjin Airlines (China) has taken delivery of a new A321 (MSN 7783), leased from China Aircraft Leasing Company (CALC). The airline, a subsidiary of the HNA Group, was originally branded Grand China Express, focused on regional operations with Embraer ERJ-145s and later E-190s. Re-branded Tianjin Airlines in June 2009, the airline has now expanded to also operate mainline services with 23 Airbus A320s, and more recently added long haul service with three A330-200s.

Air Busan takes delivery of first new A321

Air Busan (South Korea) has taken delivery of it's first factory new A321 (MSN 7754 HL7210) on lease from ICBC Leasing (China). The low cost carrier (LCC) operates 11 used A321s (plus 6 A320s), the majority having been transferred from parent company Asiana Airlines.

Niki ends A320 operations

Niki (Austria) ended A320 operations, following the transfer of it's last example to sister airline Air Berlin (mostly for wet-lease to Eurowings). The majority of Air Berlin's A321s have transferred to Niki, which now operates 16 of the type.

Postscript: Following Air Berlin's 8/17 insolvency filing, Niki Lauda is bidding to buy back the airline he created and owned.
