West Air takes delivery of first A320 NEO

West Air (China) has taken delivery of it's first Airbus A320 NEO, powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines. Five Chinese airlines have now taken delivery of a combined total of 20 A320 NEOs, all of which have been powered by P&W thus far.

China Eastern takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

China Eastern Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8, becoming the fifth Chinese operator of the new model. The airline has a further 59 on order, and 70 A320 NEOs (none delivered yet).

China Southern takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

China Southern Airlines has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, joining three other Chinese airlines (Air China, Hainan Airlines and Shanghai Airlines) that have each received one. The airline has a further 79 MAX 8s on order (two additional aircraft were delivered 11/29), with further orders pending government approval. China Southern is the world's fourth largest airline, and the biggest in Asia.

Shanghai Airlines takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

Shanghai Airlines has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, becoming the third Chinese airline (after Air China and Hainan Airlines) to operate the type. Shanghai Airlines is now a wholly owned subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, and receives it's aircraft as allocated by the parent company.

Hainan Airlines takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

Hainan Airlines (China) has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, joining Air China, which recently also took delivery of it's first example. Hainan is known to have a commitment for up to 50 737 MAX 8s.

Air China takes delivery of first A320 NEO

Air China has taken delivery of it's first (Pratt & Whitney powered) Airbus A320 NEO, built and delivered from it's Tianjin manufacturing facility. The airline, which also received it's first 737 MAX 8 earlier this month, has at least 34 additional A320 NEOs on order, and probably more from unannounced orders. The airline's current fleet is split almost 50/50 between Airbus (201) and Boeing (194) types. Airbus has now delivered 174 A320 NEOs (and 13 A321 NEOs).

Air China takes delivery of it's first 737 MAX 8

Air China has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, the first delivery of the MAX to a Chinese customer. Boeing notes it plans to deliver up to 100 MAXs to Chinese airlines by the end of 2018. 35 737 MAX models have been delivered to date.

Shenzhen Airlines (China) has taken delivery of it's first Airbus A330-300. This is also Shenzhen's first wide body aircraft.

Tianjin Airlines takes delivery of first A320 NEO

Tianjin Airlines (China) has taken delivery of it's first Airbus A320 NEO (MSN 7333), adding to it's existing fleet of 23 A320s. The airline now operates an A320 mixed fleet with three powerpants - CFM, IAE and P&W. The airline also received it's first A321 last month (see earlier blog item).

Sichuan Airlines takes delivery of first A320 NEO

Sichuan Airlines (China) has taken delivery of it's first Airbus A320 NEO (MSN 7540), powered by Pratt & Whitney engines. The airline joins China Southern as an A320 NEO operator, and brings total A320 NEO deliveries worldwide to 138.

China Express Airlines takes delivery of it's first A320

China Express Airlines, a privately held regional airline, has taken delivery of it's first Airbus A320. The airline currently operates 32 Bombardier CRJ-900LRs from it's base at Chongqing to some 70 destinations.

Tianjin Airlines receives first A321

Tianjin Airlines (China) has taken delivery of a new A321 (MSN 7783), leased from China Aircraft Leasing Company (CALC). The airline, a subsidiary of the HNA Group, was originally branded Grand China Express, focused on regional operations with Embraer ERJ-145s and later E-190s. Re-branded Tianjin Airlines in June 2009, the airline has now expanded to also operate mainline services with 23 Airbus A320s, and more recently added long haul service with three A330-200s.

China Eastern takes delivery of 20th and final 777-300ER

China Eastern Airlines has taken delivery of it's 20th and final Boeing 777-300ER. It received it's first example September 23rd 2014, with four more before the end of year, five in 2015, seven in 2016 and the final four in 2017.

Apart from three previously operated 767-300ERs, China Eastern's long haul fleet has been focused on Airbus A330s and A340s. The 777s have now completely replaced China Eastern's A340-300s and -600s, while the carrier currently operates 33 x A330-200s and 21 x A330-300s.

Yangtze River Express re-branded Suparna Airlines

Yangtze River Express Airlines China) has been re-branded and named Suparna Airlines.

Orginally an all cargo airline (a subsidiary of the HNA Group), the carrier branched into passengers services from late 2015 utilizing 737-800s.

Suparna operates an all Boeing fleet.

Capital Airlines takes delivery of first new A330-200

Capital Airlines (China) has taken delivery of it's first new Airbus A330-200 (MSN 1775 B-8981), adding to 4 used ex-Garuda aircraft in it's fleet, along with two new A330-300s delivered in 2016. All are powered by Rolls-Royce Trent engines. Capital's narrowbody fleet is made up entirely of Airbus A320 family aircraft: 20 A319s, 34 A320s and 11 A321s.
