Garuda takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

Garuda Indonesia has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, the first of 50 on order. Traditionally a Boeing operator for it's narrowbody requirements, the company's low cost subsidiary Citilink operates A320s and A320 NEOs.

Mauritania Airlines takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

Mauritania Airlines International has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, joining a mostly all Boeing fleet. Commencing operations in 2010, following the demise of former national carrier Mauritania Airways, the airline has become the de-facto flag carrier operating short to medium haul service within West Africa. This is presently MAI's sole order for a 737 MAX 8, and is planned to be operated to Paris and Jeddah.

China Eastern takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

China Eastern Airlines has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8, becoming the fifth Chinese operator of the new model. The airline has a further 59 on order, and 70 A320 NEOs (none delivered yet).

LOT - Polish Airlines takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

LOT - Polish Airlines has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, the first of six being leased from Air Lease Corporation (US). It is also ALC's first 737 MAX delivery. Earlier this year, LOT leased four used 737-800s from AerCap, as it looks to substantially expand it's short and medium haul fleet and route network.

China Southern takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

China Southern Airlines has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, joining three other Chinese airlines (Air China, Hainan Airlines and Shanghai Airlines) that have each received one. The airline has a further 79 MAX 8s on order (two additional aircraft were delivered 11/29), with further orders pending government approval. China Southern is the world's fourth largest airline, and the biggest in Asia.

Shanghai Airlines takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

Shanghai Airlines has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, becoming the third Chinese airline (after Air China and Hainan Airlines) to operate the type. Shanghai Airlines is now a wholly owned subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines, and receives it's aircraft as allocated by the parent company.

Aerolineas Argentinas is the latest recipient of a first Boeing 737 MAX 8, which Boeing is churning out at a fair clip now. JetTrak will provide a round up of 737 MAX and A320 NEO 2017 total deliveries and current customer base early in the new year.

Hainan Airlines (China) has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, joining Air China, which recently also took delivery of it's first example. Hainan is known to have a commitment for up to 50 737 MAX 8s.

Air China takes delivery of it's first 737 MAX 8

Air China has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, the first delivery of the MAX to a Chinese customer. Boeing notes it plans to deliver up to 100 MAXs to Chinese airlines by the end of 2018. 35 737 MAX models have been delivered to date.

Air Canada takes delivery of it's first 737 MAX 8

Air Canada has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, commencing a roll over of it's A320 fleet. The aircraft will be utilized on the airline's domestic and transcontinental routes, as well as select transatlantic routes. The 737 has featured in Air Canada's fleet before when it inherited 38 737-200s from it's April 2001 merger (acquisition) of Canadian Airlines International. Most were intended to be operated until at least scheduled lease return dates from 2003; however 9/11 dictated the early retirement of the fleet in late 2001, albeit 20 went on to serve Air Canada's low cost ZIP subsidiary between 2002 and 2004.

WestJet takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

WestJet (Canada) has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, one of 25 on order. WestJet also has 15 737 MAX 7s and 10 MAX 9s on order.

SilkAir takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

SilkAir (Singapore) has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, one of 31 it has on order. The airline already has 17 737-800s, which along with the new 737 MAX deliveries will entirely replace the remaining A319s and A320s. SilkAir originally commenced services with an MD-87 and 737-300s before replacing them with new A320 family aircraft.

American Airlines takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

American Airlines has taken delivery of it's first of 100 firmly ordered Boeing 737 MAX 8s, with an additional 40 options on the books.

This aircraft (and others due for delivery soon) will be initially housed at AA's Tulsa, OK maintenance base for service preparation. The 172 seat aircraft will debut November 29th  between Miami and New York (LGA).

Southwest takes delivery of first 737 MAX 8

Southwest Airlines (US) has taken delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, which will commence initial service October 1st between Dallas Love Field, Houston Hobby and San Antonio. The airline plans to make formal delivery announcements later this week, as it is currently focused on it's responses to Hurricane Harvey and the temporary closure of it's Houston Hobby hub.

flydubai (UAE) has taken official delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, the first of 75 such aircraft on order. This is Boeing's first 737 MAX to be delivered in the Middle East, and brings total 737 MAX deliveries to ten. The low cost carrier (LCC) currently operates 54 737-800s.

Norwegian takes delivery of first two 737 MAX 8s

Norwegian Air International (Ireland), a subsidiary of Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norway) has taken delivery of it's first two Boeing 737 MAX 8s (MSN 42830 EI-FYA and 42826 EI-FYB) on June 29th. The aircraft will soon fly transatlantic routes from the UK and Ireland to US east coast destinations, following familiarization flights within Europe. Boeing has now delivered six 737 MAX 8s (Malindo Air 3, Batik Air 1, Norwegian 2).

Batik Air receives first 737 MAX 8

Lion Air (Indonesia) took delivery of it's first Boeing 737 MAX 8, joining three aircraft already delivered to sister carrier Malindo Air (Malaysia).

Monarch receives first 737-800

Monarch Airlines (UK) received it's first Boeing 737-800 (MSN 40874/3316 G-ZBAV), expected to be mostly operated out of Birmingham this summer. The ex-Pegasus Airlines aircraft was built in mid 2010, and has operated with Pegasus since new. Monarch currently operates an all Airbus A320/A321 fleet (10 A320s and 25 A321s). However, Monarch will be rolling over this fleet from 2018 onwards with an order of 30 Boeing 737 MAX 8s. This is a full circle for Monarch, having started jet operations with used Boeing 720s, and subsequently a variety of new and used 737-200s, 737-300s and new 757s. The airline is also the only UK commercial airline to have not changed it's name (or merged or been taken over) since commencing service on April 5th, 1968.

Malindo Air takes delivery of the first 737 MAX 8

Indonesia's Lion Air's Malaysian subsidiary Malindo Air has taken delivery of the first Boeing 737 MAX 8 (42985/5948 9M-LRC) thus commencing the next chapter of Boeing's long running 737 program, the MAX models being the fourth major generation of the aircraft. The aircraft is in the colors of Batik Air Malaysia, which will become the new brand name for Malindo Air later in 2017. First commercial service was May 22nd Kuala Lumpur -> Singapore
