Boeing 737-200 Sierra Pacific Airlines N703S
Boeing 737-2T4 MSN 22529 L/N 750 F/F 3/18/81 Sierra Pacific Airlines N703S
Sierra Pacific's N703S is a unique aircraft in the United States these days, being the last passenger configured 737-200 operated by a US airline. This once ubiquitous aircraft is now an extreme rarity, although a handful are in service in Canada, Africa and South America.
This particular example, model 737-2T4 was originally delivered new to Air Florida as N51AF March 27th 1981. It's career with Air Florida was relatively short lived when the airline ceased operations July 3rd 1984. The airline never recovered it's reputation following the crash of one of it's 737-200s immediately after take off from Washington National Airport January 13th 1982. [There is no known picture of N51AF in Air Florida colors].
Midway Express N51AF
Midway Express picked the aircraft up in October 1984 for a few months of service until the aircraft was sold to GPA Group as EI-BRN in July 1985. Promptly leased to Midway Airlines, the airline later bought the aircraft off lease in December 1986. Retired in May 1991, the airline itself would cease operations later that year in November.
Midway Airlines N703ML
Sierra Pacific acquired the aircraft in June 1991, initially operating the aircraft as N703ML, before re-registering the aircraft N703S in January 1992.
Sierra Pacific Airlines N703S (First color scheme)
Sierra Pacific is currently engaged in charter services and sub charters for other airlines, as well as significant service for the US Forest Service, US Military and US Marshals Service. The airline also operates two 737-500s.
