Air Berlin bows out

Air Berlin - no longer 'your airline' ceased branded operations October 27th with a final flight from Munich to Berlin October 27th, ending 38 years of operations (initially as Air Berlin USA in 1979).

The airline's recent woes and analysis of the airline's situation has been well documented by this blog and from links provided to other entities commentary and opinion. It is now known that (subject to regulatory approvals) the majority of the business, including 81 A320s, will be acquired by Lufthansa for integration into it's Eurowings low cost subsidiary, while EasyJet will acquire 25 A320s, plus a sizable portion of the airline's Berlin Tegel operation.
